I get it, life gets busy. Now with kids out of school and summer vacation, some of us have fallen out of our fitness routine. It happens! The trick is to adapt, and find time throughout our day to continue being active. Here are 10 simple ways to get activity in throughout you day:

  1. 5 Minute Walk - We can all spare 5 minutes of our day! Start your morning with a walk, take a walk during your break, or bring family and friends along your walk so everyone can stay active!

  2. Stretch - Stretching doesn't take much time or space. You can stretch for a few minutes while at your desk or while watching TV. My favorite time to stretch is right before bed as part of my wind down routine.

  3. Do a quick bodyweight workout - This doesn't require any equipment! Sneak in some squats, lunges, or push ups on the floor or wall! Even a few sets of 10-12 reps can be beneficial!

  4. Take standing or walking breaks - If you're at your desk all day, set an alarm at the top of every hour to stand up or walk around. This will help loosen up your hips from sitting too long!

  5. Stand or walk while taking calls - Instead of sitting while talking on the phone, you can stand, walk, and even do some squats or calf raises! Every minute of movement helps!

  6. Multitask - You can do calf raises while watching TV, sitting at your desk, or brushing your teeth. You can stretch out your arms and wrists while sitting at your desk or talking on the phone. There are many exercises and stretches you can do while doing your daily activities!

  7. Play - Playing fetch with your dog, playing catch with a coworker or friend, or just playing gets you up and moving!

  8. Take the stairs - Skip the elevator and take the stairs! Those extra steps add up.

Movement doesn't need to take hours of our day or require much effort. Doing little bouts of physical activity all adds up! Which one of these are you going to try? Let me know! I'd love to hear from you!
