I still can't believe we're already in December! This time of year can be so joyous but also chaotic with the holidays. From gift shopping to traveling to holiday parties, sometimes we get so caught up in the festivities that we put working out on the back burner. No need to fret! Here are some simple ways to sprinkle in exercise this holiday season:

  1. Short workouts are better than no workouts - Even 10-20 minutes of walking, lifting, or stretching all adds up!

  2. Get your steps in - I love walking. It has to be the most underrated form of movement. Instead of buying gifts online, why not walk around the mall or store? You can also walk with family and friends as part of your holiday festivities or while you're taking phone calls.

  3. Combine social time with movement - Have physical activities at your gatherings! You can dance, bowl, or even miniature golf! There are so many activities you can do that involve exercising and socializing.

  4. Setting 1-2 weekly non-negotiables - Have your training sessions or classes in your calendar and honor them! My clients love our sessions because it's time they specifically schedule for themselves. It's a part of their health and self-care routine. They stick to them and will only cancel if they're sick or out of town.

  5. Shift from "all or nothing" to "always something" - So maybe you didn't get your one hour workout in or couldn't make it to your favorite class. That doesn't mean you can't get some movement in! I've definitely had my fair share of busy days, and sometimes I can only workout for 20 minutes instead of my usual hour. Something will always be better than nothing!

No need to add further stress this holiday season! These simple tips will help you stay healthy, happy, and a little less stressed.
